      A simplified stationary energy-transport system for semiconductors subject to Dirichlet boundary conditions is analyzed in 1-dimensional space. The existence of classical solutions is proved under some assumptions. The proof is based on a careful reformulation of the drift-diffusion-type equation for the electron density and the Schauder fixed-point theorem.
