Abstract：
The Cauchy problem for gas dynamic systems with weakly discontinuous initial data is discussed.Thel local existence of the solution to such problem is proved.Meanwhile,it is shown that the singularities of the solution spread on all characteristic surfaces issuing from the manifold carrying initial singularities.
