| Abstract： |
It is proved that for a complex minimal smooth projective surface
$S$ of general type, its abelian automorphism group
is of order $\le 36K_S^2+24$, provided $\chi(\Cal O_S) \ge 8$,
where $K_S $ is the canonical divisor of $S$,
and $\chi(\Cal O_S)$ the Euler characteristic of the structure sheaf of $S$. |
